Westminster Insight’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicles: Next Steps for Investment, Innovation and Deployment

Westminster Insight’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicles: Next Steps for Investment, Innovation and Deployment

Almost a year on from the Government’s response to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee report into autonomous vehicles this half-day forum will bring together key stakeholders from across the automotive, infrastructure and engineering sectors to analyse the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Representing ASV, Richard Daltry, R&D Director, will feature on the panel discussing the Next Steps for Research, Innovation and Investment covering the following:

    • How exactly are autonomous vehicles used and how are they developed? What stage of development are we currently in?
    • How will cars be ranked into each relevant category—what problem does/would this pose?
    • What are some opportunities and challenges that are posed by increased innovation for autonomous vehicles?
    • Where do we hope to be in the next 5-10 years with connected and autonomous vehicles?
    • For fully automated vehicles to be on the road by 2021 what needs to be done? Whether it is manufacturing, research or resources.
    • Is the current CAV policy too heavily focused on road transport? If so, how are other sectors including maritime and aviation developing?
    • Are autonomous ships used in a similar way to how cars on the roads would be used?
    • What is the future direction for autonomous ships?
