ASV Global is seeking an engineer with experience developing algorithms for real-time sensor processing. Our vessels are equipped with a variety of sensors from LIDARS to HD cameras. You will join the team responsible for improving our sensing capabilities. You will write real time code to process and fuse data from multiple sensors to get an accurate and consistent representation of the state of the world. This involves sensor fusion, segmentation, tracking, and prediction of contacts, as well as localization for our own ship.

The more information we have, the more effectively we can operate autonomously, so you will ensure that we have as much information as possible. Your work will directly affect the overall performance and safety of our vessels and those around us. You should be familiar with the state-of-the-art in sensor processing and committed to staying up to date with the latest developments. Key responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance C++ code in a Linux
  • Fusing data from multiple sensors to create a consistent model of the state of the world
  • Using fused data to identify, track, and predict contacts around us
  • Using sensor data to perform real time localization
  • Processing noisy data using techniques such as Kalman filters or particle filters
  • Researching and staying up to date with the state-of-the-art in sensor processing techniques

Furthermore, our software stack includes software development in modern C++ on Red Hat-family Linux. We use Confluence and JIRA for project management, Mercurial for version control, Jenkins for continuous integration, and ReviewBoard for code review. Experience with any of these tools is a plus.


This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be a U.S. Person as per 22 CFR 120.15 in order to satisfy export
compliance requirements.

In addition, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience with sensor processing and real-time sensor fusion
  • Familiarity with different types of sensors and how to use their data most effectively
  • A passion for solving challenging problems in the field of robotics
  • Computer science theory and practice, either through a suitable degree or sufficient
  • Familiarity with working in a Linux environment
  • Willingness to travel
