Being a Responsible Industry

As a market leader in the design, manufacture and operation of maritime autonomous surface systems (MAS) we are committed to demonstrating the highest standards in all business areas.

We were the driving force behind the development of a UK MAS industry wide Code of Conduct, the underlying principle of which is to demonstrate responsible approaches and actions to all aspects of the developing industry.

This approach covers design, manufacture, disposal, operation, environmental concerns and training.

To ensure as far as practical the safe and responsible operation of ASVs, it is our policy that all institutions, companies and individuals operating ASV Systems are required to undertake a training and assessment appropriate to their level of responsibility.

Safety is at the heart of all of our operations, we work closely with all relevant authorities and regulating bodies throughout the planning and execution of our operations.

All ASV operations comprise:

  • Detailed planning and liaison with local/national authorities e.g. Queens Harbour Master, MCA, Port Authorities.
  • Fully documented trials plans, risk assessments and safety case documentation.
  • ASV trials are accompanied by appropriate support boats often housing the ASView control system hardware and the Operations Team.
  • 24 hour surveillance and monitoring of the ASV throughout the entirety of the operation.

User Training

All vehicles are supplied to the customer with ASV’s comprehensive training course and bespoke user handbooks.

Our training courses are delivered in a modular manner in classroom and practical environments to cover all aspects of unmanned marine vehicle operations, and are tailored to meet all end user requirements.

Training courses are led by our in-house Operations Team and can take place at the customer location or at our site. For customers with little maritime experience, we are a fully accredited training school providing RYA/MCA endorsed qualifications.

Unmanned training typically comprises:
