Capabilities

ASV offers a wide range of technical services to the autonomous marine vehicle industry.

Concept Design

Along with a broad knowledge and understanding of the market for autonomous marine vehicles, the company has a range of hydrodynamic, structural, mechanical, electronic and software engineering skills. These are used to undertake concept design studies. For more fundamental research work, the company has access to a wide range of university facilities.

Detailed Design

The success of any project relies on the quality of the detail design associated with it. ASV has significant experience in this area with 2D and 3D drafting and design software and offers full production engineering services.

Vehicle Production

ASV has exclusive production agreements with a number of local companies for the fabrication of vehicle components which provides it with the ability to rapidly assemble prototype and production vehicles. ASV also undertakes commissioning, sea trials and operational work as well as providing longer term technical support.

Training and Operation

ASV can supply trained and experienced USV operators and engineers to undertake control and servicing of vehicles. With the experienced gained in this area supporting MOD and commercial activities, ASV also offers training in USV operations.

Technical and Logistic Support

ASV Ltd offer comprehensive technical and logistical support for all its products. The technical team are available to support the product either remotely from the design office or on site. A range of pre-agreed spares and components are maintained for immediate dispatch.

Existing Craft Conversion

ASV is able to convert existing craft into unmanned surface vehicles using our proven control systems. Converting an existing craft can provide a cost effective method for organisations to explore the capabilities an unmanned system could provide for a specific tasking or add to the functionality of the existing craft. ASV has recently converted a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) and a Jetski in this manner for a UK organisation and has provided an accompanying training package.

Feasibility Studies

Some new concepts require technical and market feasibility studies to be undertaken prior to a production stage. The company has undertaken a number of such studies, including the building of prototype craft for demonstration purposes. Funding for some studies may be available via government innovation awards.

Model Testing

The company designs, builds and tests hydrodynamic models as part of its concept and feasibility studies. Tests are undertaken in a number of slow and high speed towing tanks and also in free running, open water conditions. The models are instrumented with sensors and a data-logger for recording of data and can be fitted with active motion and navigation control systems and remote video cameras.
